Mexico City. July 15, 2024.– Vidra, a 100% Mexican company dedicated to the research, development, manufacturing, and commercialization of biorational solutions, emerges as part of Empresas Dragon, leaders in the Mexican agro-industrial sector.
Vidra is born from the fusion of the words “vida” and “racionales,” with a focus on producing healthier food from the field with lower residue levels. This July, it celebrates its first anniversary of operations, having supported Mexican farmers with its biorational solutions.
Vidra’s solutions are centered around five product families focused on protecting crops and enhancing field efficiency:

Biostimulants: Microbial solutions focused on nitrogen fixation and potassium and phosphorus solubilization, which favor the absorption of these elements, making them more bioavailable to the plant.

Biofungicides: Microbiological and botanical solutions to protect crops against diseases caused by phytopathogenic fungi. These biofungicides are exempt from MRLs (Maximum Residue Limits), are safe for applicators, and are ideal for use in Integrated Disease Management (IDM) programs.

Bioinsecticides: Products of microbiological and botanical origin for the control of agricultural pests such as mites and insects, inducing greater plant resistance to damage and providing a zero-day pre-harvest interval.

Bionematicides: For nematode control, acting as antagonists to these phytoparasites through the production of compounds such as siderophores, hydrocyanic acid, and other antibiotics, while also inducing resistance in plants.

Biocoadjuvants: Solutions that optimize the pH conditions of water used for spraying, or for foliar application of fertilizers and pesticides, thanks to their dispersant, penetrating, and wetting effects.
In this first year, Vidra’s solutions have been very well received by Mexican farmers, successfully positioning themselves in the Northern, Pacific, Western, and Bajío regions of Mexico. The portfolio is designed to create synergy and complement the management practices required by high-value and highly technified crops. Additionally, they meet official requirements such as COFEPRIS registration and the OMRI seal, which are highly demanded in this market segment.
After one year of work, Vidra has achieved strong positioning with solutions such as Haku – a botanical acaricide – and Biotanic – a botanical fungicide – which have been included in the main lists of authorized inputs for berries.

The executive noted that the biorational market is growing at approximately 16% annually internationally, while in Mexico, figures are around 14% with an upward trend. Organic production in Mexico is increasing; however, growth in producing food with a lower chemical load is even more evident and accelerated. Agriculture requires more efficient Integrated Pest Management (IPM) alongside traditional practices, which will continue to be a fundamental part of food production. The focus on sustainability is a production model that is here to stay, and work is needed to make it increasingly efficient. She also mentioned that Vidra has a moral obligation to seek ways to offer the market more Research and Development (R&D) to add value to Mexican producers.
According to the official SIAP system (administrative organization in Mexico), by the end of 2023, the national planted area was 20,023,594.61 hectares, generating agri-food exports from Mexico that broke a new record, totaling $51,874 with a 3.9% increase compared to 2022*. The agricultural sector promises to continue growing in 2024, and Vidra aims to be a strategic ally for national production.
Within the framework of its first anniversary, Vidra will participate and share its story of support for the Mexican countryside at the 14th International Aneberries Congress in Guadalajara, and at the 10th Papaya Growers Meeting to be held in Puerto Escondido, Oaxaca.
